Drive along the coastal road, passing the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni & Varkiza to the most Southern point of Attica, Cape Sounio, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On the way, you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore.

As you approach Cape Sounio, one of Greece’s most photographed monuments, it rises like a sheer cliff out of the sea. At  Cape Sounio you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands).

The beauty of the surviving Doric columns has inspired many poets, including Lord Byron who carved his name on one of the columns. 
After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion.

Do you pick up from locations outside of Athens center?

Our pick up service schedule serves selected Athens center hotels. 

If you are staying outside of the city center, we will advise the nearest location you should meet our bus or we can arrange a private transfer for you with extra cost.

What is the cancellation policy?

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.

If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

My wife and I were disappointed in this tour. Although it initially was nice that we were picked up at our hotel, by the time all the other folks were also picked up, a lot of time was used just getting out of (and later back in) to Athens. After entering the actual site, we rec’d an overview of the Temple ruins and some free time for photos and souvenir shopping. All told, the total trip lasted almost 5 hours with approx. 4 hours on the bus. I personally found our tour guide difficult to understand because of her heavy accent.

La guide ne nous a pas trop expliqué l arrêt au temple de Poseidon.
Visite trop rapide. Beaucoup d autocar. Dommage car le site est magnifique

II appreciated the story about the Cape and the historical value & importance of the Temple but it’s a long, albeit pleasant drive for a 30-45 minute visit.

Beautiful view and great tour guide. Like that there were snacks and bathroom available.
