This tour starts from the village, Chora, with a visit to the Windmills, 12 in total with 3 of them completely renovated. They will remind you of former days, when the islanders used the power of the wind.
We continue our stroll of Chora of Ios and its small and narrow alleys where you can take fantastic photographs of the traditional streets and houses.
Next stop is the church of Panagia Gremiotissa which is located at the highest point of Ios Town, Chora, and as built in 1797 AD. The church owes its name to its rocky location and you can enjoy panoramic views.
Afterwards, we visit the open Theater Odysseas Elytis named after the Greek Nobel Prize winning poet.
We continue to Homer’s Tomb, the place where allegedly the famous ancient Greek poet rests.
Our next short visit is to Palaiokastro, a castle built at an altitude of 275m to protect the island from the pirates, where we will enjoy breathtaking views.
Our tour finishes at the world famous Manganari beach where the movie “The Big Blue” was partially
filmed. Lunch is optional at a traditional Greek Tavern.
