We start our Delphi One Day Trip to explorethe UNESCO-listed Archaeological Site of Delphi with an expert guide and learn how the city was considered the ‘Center of the World’ in ancient Greece and today one of the most famous archaeological sites of Greece.

Along the way we drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus, Levadia and Arachova.

After making a short rest stop outside the town of Levadia, we arrive at Delphi, the center of Ancient World – the “Omphalos” (Navel of Earth) – whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios.

First stop is the Delphi archeological site – an Unesco World Heritage Site and one of the most important digs in Europe. Avoid and skip the lines of the archaeological site and walk around the evocative ruins with your guide, see famous monuments including the Treasury of the Athenians and the Temple of Apollo.

Second stop is the Delphi Archeological museum,  that contains such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.

As our Delphi One Day Trip comes to an end we return to Athens passing by the picturesque village of Arachova, built on the south slopes of Parnassus, well known for its attractive hand-woven carpets, rugs and quilts, as well as for its wine and cheese (short photo stop).

A hely és az utazás tökéletes volt. Sajnos az idegenvezetőnek folyamatosan recsegett a mikrofonja ezért értelmezhetetlen volt az idegenvezetés, de ennek ellenére fantasztikus élmény volt. Köszönjük!

This was so fun! Effie was our guide and Nikos was our driver. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful drive out there and of course the sight itself is spectacular as well. Enjoyed the guided walk through the museum. Much richer experience to hear about the things you’re looking at.

Amazing place, energy, views, history, oracles, etc., etc. so worth the drive to Delphi to visit this Temple and Sanctuary. I went there with a purpose as I need to heal my heart, body and soul and Apollo is the G-d of healing, light, prophecy. Well, the energy is so strong that one can feel the presence of Gaia everywhere and the deities. Vicky, our guide was a book of knowledge, she knows her history from A to Z and George was an amazing driver. Loved everything about it.

Effie was an absolutely fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and clear, and brought everything to life for us. We learned a lot (and we already thought we knew a fair bit!). The information about the trip on the Viator site is a little misleading though – we didn’t have three hours at the Delphi site, just a little over 90 minutes. The museum was very interesting afterwards, but we would have liked a few minutes to ourselves to pop into the shop and go back to some of the exhibits; instead we were ushered back to the coach for the lunch stop. The included (set) dinner really isn’t worth it – it isn’t very nice and an a la carte menu was available which we would have preferred. The stop off at Aracova on the way back was also a bit pointless – there is nothing there and it would have been better to just get on the road and get back to Athens before rush hour. Overall, the trip was a great way to visit Delphi, and the guide was excellent, which outweigh our niggles, hence giving the tour four stars.

Even the rain couldn’t ruin this tour! Our guide was fabulous! She had so much to share!!! I
believe the cost was reasonable except it says includes hotel pick up but only includes a
few hotels….
